Today, training does not only develop traditionally in the school environment but also in the out-of-school environment thanks to the development of training methods such as self-studying at home, one-to-one coaching, workshop model and webinar. In the 3rd Chapter, four training methodologies are described: Home Self-Study, One-to-One Coaching, Workshop Model, and Webinar.
Home Self-Study
Advantages: easy to access, individual responsibility, auto-control process, adjusted learning pace, increases curiosity, facilitates access to more information
Disadvantages: brainstorming decreases, no support from an educator. the pace of development may be slow
One-to-One Coaching
Advantages: two people engagement, mutual improvement, effective use of time, roadmap provided
Disadvantages: requires hard work and struggles for both parties, decrease in individual working time, does not allow one to compare one’s learning process with the others
Minimize Lecture, Maximize Learning: The Workshop Model
Advantages: gathering of 10-25 people with similar interests, development of individual skills by brainstorming, discussing or researching, increases motivation, psychomotor skills, individuals’ sense of working as a team and in an organized manner
Disadvantages: requires a lot of time, difficult to cover too many elements, not suitable for large groups
Webinar
Advantages: can be held anywhere, discussions and learning through shared videos and presentations, possibility to record webinars, no expenses for goof, travel and accommodation
Disadvantages: Internet interruptions or technical problems, lack of group work, noisy areas
To sum up, there are various methodologies on how to implement trainings, however, it is important to consider the content and the aim of the training itself so as to choose the most appropriate typology.
